What are Soul Guides?
Something I enjoy doing is hiking in nature. There are so many useful tools we have to support us in our walk and give us direction. We have compasses, maps, GPS, but we also have so many natural markers along the trail. These may be a familiar path or similarities with the water or vegetation that we recognize. There are also markings or cairns (piles of rocks) that have been left there by others who are marking the way for us. I think about our Spirit Guides as those who are with us on the trail; maybe they are setting up the markers or they are giving us a general sense of the direction, a gentle reminder of the way we are supposed to go, and where we are headed.
I am not sure if there’s a full definition of what a Soul Guide is that makes sense to me, yet when I have heard someone mention it, I resonate with the wording.
I always envision Soul Guides as helpful markers on the trail who are accompanying us, and letting us know we do not have to be on our journey alone. They offer the direction that we might need to take on the course we are trying to follow. Or they offer the ability to pick another path we can walk down when we are looking for another trail head to follow.
They offer a sense of accompaniment when we might feel alone, or stillness when we want to pause and take all of the sights and sounds in. A Soul Guide can offer an anchoring into possibilities of what can open up, and where we can go on our soul’s journey.
